Clairemont girl with cancer gets wish granted

By Matt Mendes, ABC 10 San Diego

SAN DIEGO – A young Clairemont dancer battling cancer had her wish granted Tuesday, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and health company Isagenix.

“It just feels really good to be here now,” said Tanika Hahn.

Tanika has some new toys for her backyard. A rendering shows where a zip line, foam pit and performance area will be built.

“I asked for this wish that could keep me entertained and that I can have fun with,” Hahn said.

Doctors discovered Tanika has acute lymphoblastic leukemia a few years ago after she fell out of a tree. Her final treatment will be in April and her parents hope she’ll then be cancer free.

“You go through this and you learn so much about the different human spirits and you see other kids and other families,” said Tanika’s father, Randy Hahn, as he fought back tears. “It’s overwhelming”

The crowd of about 15,000 people sang happy birthday to Tanika, since her actual birthday is August 19.
